Privacy Policy

Effective May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026

The short version

The EKKQues mobile apps collect no personal data — the contact form opens your email app, member login is stored only on your device, and there are no third-party tracking SDKs. The website (ekkques.com) collects only what you type into the contact form, and uses privacy-friendly Plausible Analytics for anonymous pageview stats (no cookies, no tracking).

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes the data practices of the Epsilon Kappa Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated ("EKK," "we," "us," or "our") in connection with:

Collectively, these are the "Services." This policy applies whether you access the Services as a visitor, a prospective member, a brother of the chapter, a scholarship applicant, or a community partner.

2. What we collect on the website

2a. Information you provide

When you fill out the contact form, you provide:

This information is sent through EmailJS (a transactional email service) and delivered to the chapter Basileus inbox at Epsilonkappakappabasileus@oppf.org. We use it only to reply to your inquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list and we do not sell, share, or rent this information.

2b. Information collected automatically

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics service hosted in the European Union. Plausible records anonymous pageview counts, traffic sources (referring sites), the country/region you're visiting from (city-level, derived from IP and then discarded), the device category (phone, tablet, desktop), browser name, and operating system. Plausible does not use cookies, does not assign a persistent user identifier, and does not collect personally identifiable information. See the Plausible Privacy Policy for details.

We also track these custom events anonymously: contact form submissions and errors, clicks on outbound links (to Facebook, Instagram, oppf.org, Zeffy, Google Maps), opens of the chapter location map modal, and visits to the 404 (page not found) page. These events help us understand which content matters to visitors and which links are broken. None of this data is linked to a specific person.

2c. Officer authentication

Chapter officers who edit the website's content use Netlify Identity to log into the admin area at /admin/. Netlify processes officer email addresses and password hashes for authentication purposes only. See the Netlify Privacy Policy.

2d. Embedded third-party content

The Site embeds content from third parties, which may collect data when their content loads:

3. What we collect in the EKKQues iOS & Android apps

App Store data disclosure

The EKKQues mobile apps are designed for "Data Not Collected" on the Apple App Store and the equivalent "No data collected" disclosure on Google Play. Specific behaviors are described below.

3a. Contact form (in-app)

The in-app Contact form gathers your name, email address, subject, and message locally on your device, then opens your phone's default email app (such as Apple Mail or Gmail) with a pre-filled draft addressed to the chapter. The EKKQues app never sends this data over the network itself. Whether and how the email leaves your device is controlled entirely by your email app and email provider — not by us.

3b. Members Portal

The Members Portal lets brothers sign in with a chapter-issued member ID and a password. Member credentials and passwords are stored only on your device using iOS UserDefaults or the Android equivalent. Nothing is transmitted to any server controlled by EKK. Logging out clears stored credentials. We strongly recommend choosing a strong password and protecting your device with a passcode, Face ID, or fingerprint unlock.

3c. Push and local notifications

When you first open the app, it asks for permission to show notifications. If you grant permission, the app schedules local notifications (one day before and the morning of each chapter event) so you don't miss meetings. No push notification tokens are sent to any server. No third-party push provider (such as Firebase Cloud Messaging) is used. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone's Settings.

3d. External links and payments

Tapping "Pay Dues" opens your browser to Zeffy.com for payment processing. Tapping Facebook, Instagram, the National Website, or watching a video opens those services in your browser or installed app. EKK does not see, collect, or store any payment information — the payment relationship is between you and Zeffy. See third-party policies above.

3e. Diagnostics

Apple and Google may collect aggregate, anonymous crash reports and performance data on our behalf if you've enabled "Share Analytics" or "Share Crash Reports" in your phone's Settings. This is controlled by your operating system, not by us, and contains no personal identifiers we can read.

4. How we use information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share information with advertisers. We do not build profiles for behavioral advertising.

5. Data retention

Contact form emails are retained in the chapter Basileus inbox for as long as needed to respond and for chapter record-keeping (typically up to 24 months, then archived or deleted at the Basileus's discretion). Plausible analytics retains aggregate anonymous data per Plausible's policy. Officer Netlify Identity accounts persist until the officer is rotated off or removed. On-device app data is retained until you uninstall the app or clear app data.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below. Because we hold very little personal information, most requests can be honored quickly. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

For users in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide additional rights. For users in the European Union and United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides additional rights. EKK is a small fraternal nonprofit based in Mississippi, and while we strive to honor these rights, please contact us if you have specific concerns.

7. Children's privacy

The Site and apps are intended for adult users (typically college-aged and older). Membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated is limited to adult college students and college graduates. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.

If a minor applies for an EKK-administered scholarship through a separate paper or online application process, that application and any minor information collected is handled by the Scholarship Committee chair under separate procedures consistent com applicable law.

8. Security

We protect data with reasonable safeguards including HTTPS encryption on the Site, strict Content Security Policy headers, an anti-spam honeypot on the contact form, Git-based version control for content, and authentication for officer access. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date at the top of the page when we do. Material changes will be reflected in chapter communications where appropriate. Your continued use of the Services after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
